Should know more by the end of the day today...that is if my new oil filter and o rings arrive. I got a pressure gauge to set up on the oil gallery too.. Gotta stop by an auto parts store and pick up some rotella. I don't want to dump anymore expensive Spectro on the floor lol.

I agree with the idea of disconnecting the cooler and doing some testing. If all is well then plum in the cooler and see what happens then.

I wonder if there's a check valve in the cooler. Might try blowing on the hoses to see if it only goes one way.

Ok, we are good now with the cooler adapters looped. I think it must of been a combo of worn out o rings, poor quality oil filter, old crusty cooler hoses, and cold 20w50. I'm in michigan.. The new filter cover o ring is significantly thicker and rounder than the old one I tried to get by with. Also, look at the difference in the holes in the filter

Still have not tried it with the cooler. Swest, I did check for a check lol. No evidence of one by blowing air through.

The pressure gauge I bought was a pos, or it just got overwhelmed by cold 20w50. When I started the bike the light went out within 5 seconds, then I checked the gauge and quickly started getting nervous, as it stayed at what looked like zero. So I shut the bike off and looked closer. It was wound all the way round to the peg. Now it won't go back down. So, I pulled it off and noted plenty of oil in there. I put a gauge from one of my cb750s on. Cbs run very high oil pressure, as they are plain crank bearings. It's at about 20 psi at idle and 40 psi with some revsvwith the cold 20w50.

Glad to see you are making positive progress.
Holley / Earls make some really nice oil coolers in any combo of size , shape , thickness you can ask for including fitting size and type selections
I run a 15 psi gauge here in MI. and it does go all the way up when cold and only stuck once.
I watch it to know when the motor is warmed up as pressure will drop to 3 psi

Ok, so today I plumbed the oil cooler back in. Everything worked fine. And with a beautiful first day of winter in michigan, even got to do some riding. She is running strong. Time to make her pretty.
