Hi new member here, I recently bought and am currently rebulding a 1978 kz650-b2 and the previous owner lost the bottom cam chain roller (part number 12055-004) along with the accompanying shaft (part number 12052-003) the only cam chain rollers I can find online are for >$100 on ebay. Does anyone have one they would be willing to sell me or have any suggestions on acquiring one? Im a highschool student and I dont have the funds to spend on this one part. (yes I looked at partzilla and it is out of stock and would rather not wait months for them to get more in stock)

i dont really have a reference on how hard or flexible it should be but id say it’s fairly pliable for how hard i would think it should be, cant imagine a cam chain guide roller needing to be super flexible lol

As long as it's not hard as a rock it should be OK. Pics would help.

Wow! Good catch.

Did you also find the little blocks, #6 in the image above?
Now would be a good time to be sure the filter screen on the oil pump is clean.

Those little block dampers are usually available on EB. Somewhat overpriced but in some cases about the same as the Kawasaki dealer if they still had them.

Im rebuilding the bike as a school project so I can only really get pictures of it from 8:20-9:20 am, I already put the pistons and cylinders on the engine so if im being honest im going to use that cam roller even if its a little stiff (even if I needed a new one I couldn't afford to spend the limited amount of money I have on that as well as hindering my progress on this graded project)

Hi Guys, at the risk of appearing silly im going to ask what may be deemed a silly question.
As per original poster im in a similar position in that ive stripped the engine to have it vapour blasted, obviously going through everything before reassembly to ensure its within tollerence before refitting.
which leads me to the question.
On the chain tensioner rollers theres blocks of hard rubber, (6 in total)how hard should they be ie when new are they pliable between fingers? Now i could just replace them all with new, however for what they are they arn't cheap, nor are there many options in uk, on ebay they are all from US, with extortionate postage to UK seems you guys get all the good stuff! Bigger country, more choice and competition, keeps prices keen.
anyway can anyone advise how hard they should be when new. Even tried dipping in hot water to see if it softened the rubber, no change tending to indicate they should be hard? Dont want to replace for the sake of it! Same applies to top tensioner wheel blocks too.
imcidentally before strip, bike ran fine with no excess noise or smoke
Many Thanks
