hi all, im back into my forsaken project of a kz 750 into cafe racer conversion, now i assemble the engine. the bike was in buckets when bought, so ive never seen it running
well, long story short...
when i set cams by the marks

[IMG

and started to rotate the crank (the tensioners innit as well), i'd heard kinda clicks. so i had to remove the head and seen the scratches on the intake valves made by the outlet valves

[IMG

thats a mockup setup, all marks were in line, ken oath!

[IMG

then i looked better into the manual and saw the pic

[IMG

so i suspect that the outlet cam's sprocket installed through wrong holes.
is it so?
thanks in advance mates!

Guess you realized that you put the exhaust cam in the wrong holes on the sprocket or you have two inlet cams.

Opsi! Take all the valves out and make sure they are still strait and that the valve guides are ok.

/A
Read the manual twice, wrench once.

Inteesting thing that you and exchance the cams and still turn over the engine by hand. Dont ask how I know.

Yah Scuba that's what I thought when I read this. At least maybe pour some fuel oil or kerosene in the ports to see if the valves are not bent and leaking..... hoping they are ok. Be sure to clean the bolts holding the sprockets, torgue em to the low end or mid range using a inch lb wrench and use blue loctite on them too. A few that are smarter than me by far say to use green loctite (med strength or red).

Yup! Blue locktight or better not remove them unless you ar planning to slot the sprockets inorder to time the cam's.
I am not shure if I would trust the kerosene method, I would remove tve valves in order to make sure their steait. As a lost valve create major damage to the engine.
