The 8mm drill bit still fit snug after I ran the tap in the hole, so

The tap-prep drill bit OD for the threaded insert area deep in the hole measures 7.3mm, and the tap OD measures 8.1mm, both according to the digital caliper that I use.

I wish you perfect success.

So I made a bunch of inserts out of 4130 and replaced all but 4 of the cam threaded holes. I removed the shims and springs to check that the cams still turn when the caps are torqued down. The intake spins fairly easily but the intake is slightly stiffer. Both turn over by hand. I should have checked what it was like before so I could compare but it’s too late for that now. If there anyway to determine if the cam cap misalignment is causing too much drag? Also my exhaust cam seems to have gotten much hotter could this be from excess drag? I assumed it was a bi-product of being on the exhaust side which is hotter in general.
