hey there my freind, I am totally new to both kz 1000 and the forum. The last time I had one was 1982. Stumbled across accidentally. Anyway I Just recently purchased another one. 1977 KZ 1000a. I bought it from Johnnys vintage cycles in Ohio. I am checking out your video on replacing the electrical wiring, and I noticed you have some kind of radiator on the front of your bike. Man things have come along way since my bike in the 80s. Can you tell me what its for and the benefits it has. Your bike is well kept. Mine was blue in the 80s. The one I purchased is Black with gold pin stripping. I don`t care what collar they are, they still look better than anything else out there. Thanks Mitch

The "Radiator" is an oil cooler.
Mostly for hard use , racing or in hot climates to help keep oil temperature and consequentially engine temperature down.

Curious... do you check valve clearances on a set schedule or wait till they start making noise?  And will they in fact make noise when they start getting tight?

The tighter they get the quieter they go.
You should really check them once a year if in regular use.

I do it with each rear tire change. About 5,000 miles.
