Good find but the oil is controlled by the oil rings. Does the smoke out the mufflers happen with the motor rpm accelerating or do you get the smoke when the motor is de-accelerating? If on de-cell you might also think about valve stem seals. Might not be a bad idea with the head off anyways.

Interesting video. What prevents the valve from dropping into the cylinder after the keepers have been removed? Ed

Easy to do with a cylinder head only environment
Only possible to do with compressed air in the combustion chamber ( over the spark plug bore )
on TDC if the head is on the cylinder block

I used compressed air when I replaced valve seals in my Chevy truck, and it worked fine. I was just surprised that the video omitted any mention of preventing the valves from dropping, since the uninitiated could get into trouble if he didn't deal with that possibility. I've read that some folks feed clothesline into the cylinder through the spark plug hole and then raise the piston to keep the valve from dropping, but this seems like an iffy and laborious method if doing all 8 valve seals on a 4 cylinder KZ engine. The valve stem have to be replaced...

How to know if my new stem seal are well placed?
Do it have to be on the top of the valve guide or on the bottom on the valve guide?

I mean, a stem seal have a small metal ring (circlip) on his bottom and a small spring on his top.
This small spring is just before the valve guide or on the valve guide?

Regards

The valve stem seal clips onto a groove in the top of the valve guide. Getting the old valve stem seal off can be tricky. Don't use extreme force or you can break off the guide itself. To install the new seal you place it over the end of the guide and then use a tube or a deep socket of the right size and tap it in place using a small hammer. Just be careful where you are contacting on the seal and the guide. You only want to touch the outside edge of the seal, not the inner lip.

the Valve Spring Seat washer first on the bottom of the cylinder head then press the valve stem seal on the valve guide.
In a set of a new valve seals should be a plastic tube that secure the valve seal for damaging by the valve keeper grove.
If not use a suitable drinking straw.

Tool for pulling the old valve seals

plastic tube that secure the valve seal

Hello;

so actually the new valve stem seal is on the top of the valve guide.
(i think it was like that for the old stem seal)

Picture :

1/ The "small spring" is on the top of the guide and the cerclip is on the groove.

Do i have to push more on the stem seal to have :
2/ The "small spring" on the groove and the stem seal touch the top of the washer

Best regards
