I'm not too worried, since I use a real torque wrench, well, two of them... but this is the stuff I used last time....

Treat yourself to studs. Throw those old bolts in the garbage where they belong. Twice in the past year I've had the old bolts snap off when tearing down the engine. If you can't trust them coming out......how can you trust them when you reinstall them. I don't care if they're lubed or not, it's just plain foolish to risk having everything all set to go together and then have a bolt snap off and have to redo work that you've already done once.

Everyone is free to do what they want with their engine, if all parts both engine block and bolts are thoroughly cleaned, the prerequisites are good when tightening with torque.  I myself started repairing motorcycles and mopeds at the age of 11-12 with a mechanic father who supervised from the time they hand-scraped bearing surfaces for proper fitting.  Tension bolts must be constantly replaced but other bolts can be checked visually in my world.  I am now 61 years old, have professionally repaired cars all my life and motorcycle as a hobby.  It has never been wrong to use oil on parts and contact surfaces during assembly, that was the first thing I learned and still do also on bolts :)

But be careful about putting oil on the threads of bolts.  The torque specs in the Kawasaki Service Manual are for dry threads, not oiled threads.  Ed

You beat me to it. There are a lot of new folks doing that - maybe we can add a line to the "new user - please read" sticky to suggest looking at the date of the last post before responding to a thread.

I think this is the main problem, though occasionally resurrecting an old thread can be useful. I am not so sure in this case. I think this dead horse has been sufficiently beaten.

Yes.  The post date is not shown on the mobile site.  I often switch to desktop view on my phone just to check the date of the post.

It would be really cool if there were an option in the software that we could turn on to show the dates on the mobile site.  KZQ?
