Spark Plug Gap with Dyna was created by bluezbike
Is the spark plug gap the same when using either points or Dyna ? 0..35 mm.?

I remember reading in Cycle World in the old days Denco said you could go .037 to .039 with the higher output Dyna coils and pick up a tiny bit of power but most everyone on here (I asked too) recommends the standard .028 to .032. I compromised and go with .032.......... .35mm works out to .013 unless someone corrects that.

The Old Kaw Man recommends 0.37- 0.42 with Dyna coils.

I never gap plugs. Out of the box and into the engine.

Edit: according to the FSM for the 1000D model bikes the stock gap is .040-.044". That's a big gap. The NGK's come with a smaller gap that that.

0.37mm?
Isn't that only .0145"?
Way too small for plug gap.
.037" I could see.
I use .032" on mine with the green coils, but I have tried as wide as .042" and honesty didn't really notice any notable difference, so I'm not a good source of reliable info.

It'll just shorten coil life by increasing the firing voltage. Spark energy remains the same, no benefit.

If I remember right Bounty they said it increased the size of the spark and since the coils put out more voltage they could handle it thus a little bigger (and longer) burn....... thinking its such a small difference (I could never feel a diff either of course) you'll never feel it maybe a few thousands of a hp or wishful thinking ??........ I remember my buddy ribbing me about drilling my front disc for weight removal and it not helping but then it was a combination of other things too ..... turn signals, center stand, low bars, air box, header, kick start lever, never more than a gal of gas, alum rear sprocket, smooth bores over stock carbs (2 1/2 lbs) etc etc and every little bit helping and adding up.

DYNATEK recomends .035"-.040"that is in thousands of a inch.old man kaw says .037"-.042" thous. some times we get mm's and decimal points mixed up.my fsm manual for a gpz 750 say .7-.8 mm =.027"-.031"thous i hope this clears things up.

Thank you all for the replies....I got my units in a twist......it is 0.7 - 0.8 mm. (not 0.035 mm)
One thing I realize now is the FSM I have was printed in New Zealand so I only have units in metric - kilometers and mm's only.
Bike was running fine til last week then it stated conking out at idle so after checking a bunch of stuff and getting to the spark plugs I found a gap of 1.4 mm. or 0.055" ...... I do not know how it even ran at that setting never mind as well as it did....new plugs set to 0.039" going in tonight.

Longer (length) spark doesn't improve anything, longer time duration doesn't do anything either compared to proper functioning ignition. Considering how easy it is to increase the gap (and voltage) ask yourself: if it added even one tenth HP, don't you think the manufacturer would be using a higher voltage coil setup?
