Factory 4>1 for an 82 GPz750? was created by GKBO

I've been offered this system and the guy offering says it's off an 82 GPz750..I've only seen 4>2 for stock on the 82 GP750 or am I wrong? It certainly looks to be a stock Kawi system but I'd hate to get it here to find it doesn't fit.

The exhaust emblem appears to date from about 1982/1983 or slightly later...however, as you suspect, the KZ750-R1 was not released anywhere with a 4into1 exhaust. Although it is difficult to estimate from a photo, the spacing on the four exhausts appears fairly close to each other and the exhaust three enters into the collector below the other exhausts, suggesting a narrowly-spaced 4 cylinder motor. What I'm thinking is that that exhaust system is a factory exhaust but from a smaller displacement 4 cylinder that are rare in most of the world. Kawasaki produced many models of Z400 4 cylinder bikes (even some 4 cylinder 250cc models) that were for the domestic (Japanese) market and that were not exported to the west (although a few models did make it to Europe). Occasionally these oddities pop-up for sale (I, for example, have a Z2A...a model never officially sold in North America) that was brought back to the USA by a returning serviceman.

I suspect you have have been offered an exotic exhaust from a model such as a Z400(4)...photos and information on Japanese-only models are difficult to find on the internet.

Yeah the spacing is really hard with just on pic.It does looks to my eyes like it's an era pipe to.Did ask the seller if it actually fit an 82 GPz750.I'd think a GPz400 would be pretty rare even on Canada's west coast where Japanese grey market vehicles are not that uncommon.

That muffler looks like it could be from an '82 GPz750. It seems to be a from the LH side of the bike and the rubber bumper being for the center stand.

The header on the other hand is more of a mystery. It looks like a nice piece with a flat collector so it would tuck up close under the engine. Not sure what that aluminum spool looking piece is for. No clue what it came from, but it wasn't a GPz part to the best of my knowledge.

Yeah that was striking as odd to,looking at it again it may be a left side muffler but the 4>1 seems to dump to the right per normal.Oh well there goes my less costly exhaust

Yes Mod I'm well aware of your later 4>1 Frankenstein pipe. It's fine on your bike but where I am in BC Canada we can get a huge insurance break by qualifying for a collector plate www.icbc.com/vehicle-registration/collec...lector-vehicles.aspx and that would not pass at all. Can't help but wonder if that header pipe will work then all I'd need to figure out is a muffler

Well if just has to be "factory" It is, just for a 20 yr newer Kwak. If you use the original muffler It should fit too.

The inline 4 Kz400J is almost identical to the Kz550's, but with smaller displacement. If it fits a Kz400-4, it should also fit a Kz550.

That would be fine IF I had a 550 to fit it on ;)
The seller realized this wasn't a system when he looked at it.It was in a bunch of parts he got in 5 boxs that are supposed to be for an 82 R1. He's going to check spacing ,port sizing and frame clearance to see if it will fit.Gave me an tip on how I might get the broken baffle out of the V&H that came with the bike to.so I MAY be able to use that.
