Adding kick start on a Kz750E was created by Mickey1031
Just wondering how hard is it to add a kicker to a non kicker bike?

What parts would be needed?

Just like the look and would be nice if bat is low to have another option to start if the magic run button does for some reason.

Just kicking the idea around at this point to see if it is worth it or not
So any help would be nice

I don't think the 750EE engine will have all the necessary castings to accept the kickstart mechanism.
Easiest would be to swap in an entire kz650 engine with a kickstarter.

Might even be able to find someone willing to swap engines with you.
I know a few kz650 owners would love to have a kz750 engine in their bike.

I don't see me trading the motor out for a 650 lol. But thanks for the offer. I would go to the 1000 cases first and at that point make it a whole lot more stout

Yeah I've had bikes with the kicker in the passed I liked them. Would like it on this.
I think if I'm right it's the shaft is all internally.
Castings on the out side I'm not sure about.

The 750 cases are very different than the 1000 cases. Do you mean swap the whole engine for a 1000? Ed

From what I've read you can install a kick starter in a 750E. I'm not sure what's involved though although a search turned up a few older threads on the subject.

From various topics here on KZR it can be done. Nebr_Rex did on his 750E. I think it's an E.
google search = site:kzrider.com 750-4 kick starter

Can my engine accommodate a kick starter? --- w pics & links

Yes Ed that's what I was saying. I know all of the 650-1000 are not the same and can be animals. But if I were to swap out the motor I would go up in cc rather then down in them.

Thanks for the search info I'll check it out

It can be done. Here's a pic of a big KZ engine in a KZ650 frame. The guy really paid attention to details on this one as he gave it sort of a vintage Triumph look with a monster engine. Ed

That's sharp.
However I have the 750. So would be a bigger frame.
It was just a thought it can wait for another project or I'll find one that already has it on it.
This being what it is I'll hold off for a while on it
But thank you for all of the replies!

The 750four is essentially just a bored out 650. The cases are exactly the same between the 650 and 750, the only reason it has a different part number is because it was painted black. they have the provisions for a kick starter in there, Kawasaki just decided the kicker was no longer needed for some reason.

So what parts would I need to add it? I was told a longer shaft was needed and to knock the hole in the side of the case.
But not sure what shaft would be the correct one for this application.

If it's a bunch of work I'll just hold off
