It sounds more like all four cylinders have a bent valve(s) from neglect, rev ABUSE or massive overheat from no oil?.
Im almost positive he did all of these things. He kept bragging about how fast he could get it going and sustaining those high speeds as well. This engine wound up to almost redline for 5-10 minutes straight probably made it do some colorful stuff... especially when it was low on oil.
Wow, this is epic. Almost into Darwin Award Winner territory.

When oil is low, usually crankshaft bearings die first, but this crank has crank roller bearings, so it is hard for me to guess.

So on the topic of porting heads.. What to do what to do.... I remember someone (I think it was Larry C) who said a mild port job and some GPZ1100 cams would make that engine wake up quite a bit? I think he said something like 375 lift on the GPZ vs less with the stock ones? Whats your guys' opinion? I don't really even know where to look for cams let alone what to look for. This is what im looking at so far... Cylinders are only gonna be .25 oversized. Stock BS34s. starting off with stock 122.5 mains (im sure some jetting/syncing and tuning will be needed). Will be running a Kerker 4 into 1 with no muffler (unless I find it for him lol)
any help is appreciated as always and thanks for all the info so far,

I suggest asking machine shop for all your old parts, valves, guides and pistons.

I'd bet there's more stuff hurt then just the top end.
I wouldn't think about putting a fresh top end on it with out splitting the case's for a look.

They are tough but as I said in the beginning, the abuse is obvious and I'd be afraid to invest $800 or more in major head repair and boring with new Pistons, etc!
