Color tune

Got my Color tune last week. Took less time to come from the UK than a lot of parts inside the US. For the hell of it I plugged it in. The bike is leaner than I thought. It also pointed out what I thought all along. Electrical miss. Didn't see it on my timing light. The spark advance I ordered hasn't even been shipped yet. The Dyna rotor should be here today or tomorrow. Until then I dialed in my pilot circuit. Mostly light blue in color with a flash of orange intermittently. MY PLUGS ARE PURPLE. Must be this puke they are selling us for gas. Pics in the morning.
I'm glad I bought it, a nice addition to my tools.

Im very hard of hearing. I love my color tune.I use a rubber hose on the plug so I dont have to take the pigtail off each time .To hot to handle.

I'd like to try one but kind of pricey. I'm convinced my 26mm carb's are now lean using the 10.25:1 1075 kit, headers and my 2 into one bread box air filters.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNot really. $47.85 delivered. My 33's are lean but not that much. It'll help me dial in the mid and WOT. Of course I'll have to check it under load but it will take most of the guess work out. Hell, I'm going to plug it into my granddaughter's Chappy in the morning.

Damn. Mine cost me $80.

The problem with the colortune is that it'll only tell you when the mixture is far too rich (to the point where you can hear/see the change in idle anyway). It will not tell you when the mixture is just right, or even when it is too lean (you can only guess that it's too lean because it's missing--but there are other reasons it could be missing).

You could read the mixture as perfect with the colortune and still have sooty, black plugs.

It did help me decide I was going the wrong direction with the pilots. I have 65's and some 70's. 70 seemed too rich so I'll use my jet drills and go up a step on the 65's. Just another tool for the arsenal. B)

Storm came through lats night. Looks like there's a hole I can get through and am heading for home. I took a pic of one plug. I had them peanut butter color before, so now that's my goal. ;)

This is the reaction I was talking about with the paint. CRAP.

Not done yet.

Yeah. Technically you could learn that by playing with the idle mixture screw but the colortune does make it more straight forward.

I'm probably going to end up buying a wideband air/fuel sensor and selling the colortune. $130 to know exactly what the mixutre is, vs $80 to know only that it's not way too rich. The fact that the colortune narrows things down to a specific cylinder is the reason I bought it instead of an AFM in the first place, but it's just not sensitive enough to tune with on its own.
