I was disappointing to see they used piece together push rods in the later motors. Mine is one piece and is 40 years old.

Ditto that, especially for a hard to get at part such as this is. The next push rod in this motor will be one-piece. I'm very pleased with APE products thus far, and certainly won't go wrong here.
Thanks!
Pic (taken 2-23-15) added! Note how far the rod-end sticks out...that which broke off!!!

The one thing I haven't done is to install the roller bearing push end in the clutch basket. Been waiting until my clutch goes but after 30 or so years, it still works great. I will replace the push rod though.

Thanks Steve!
The last pic I posted reminds me how much effort lies ahead...again.
But I will ride...again soon.

Looks like some kind of keeper spring just before it goes into the bearing cap? Is that where it broke?
Damn.

I have kz1000 that bought from some bozo that had the adjustment too tight on that rod and it caused the rod to spin in the case causing it to wear through in the hole in the case in behind that little seal, also when the seal and rod was replaced it stopped leaking oil.
Be sure to read the instructions on how to adjust those three ball release units.

You can go to your local machine shop and have them cut you a piece from some metric bar stock. There was a KZP here that had one with two pieces of steel pressed into a aluminum rod. HOW STUPID IS THAT?

Careful blaming "some Bozo" . I resemble that remark.
