Bogging at 7,000 rpm was created by TS
Ran into a intermittent bogging down of throttle response when hitting about 7k on the tachometer. I was riding on the highway at around 60-65mph, it happened several times over 30 minutes. The power loss was not consistent, I tried to reproduce it later on my commute. I switched my petcock from the regular vacuum setting to reserve, and the power loss was still happening. I checked my tank at the end of my commute, and I still had half a tank.

Please let me know if anyone can provide some added insight.

Cheers!

Hard to diagnose on the NET but it sounds like needle and seat and or float level issues to me.

Attempted to ride to work this morning, and I found some additional details on the issue. It might help to add that it was lightly raining during both my rides where I experienced the abrupt power loss. Filled my tank past halfway before heading out, did a basic sweep of the vehicle last night to check for loose bolts/nuts, and unplugged connections. I forgot to mention yesterday that my KZ did not steadily increase in rpm. It climbed to 4k, and hit a plateau, this is different from the smooth climb that is usually felt. 10-15 minutes into my commute in traffic the bike sounded like it was about to cut out while in 2nd and 1st, very rough noise. I put the choke on the full position (from completely off). The abrupt power loss now happens at around 4k as well, it seems random.

Thank you for all your responses so far! I will go through the petcock, plugs, and lastly the needle/seat/float variables.

She also hits a higher rev range (8-9k rpm) when doing about 65 mph. Before this issue, I was steadily aroung 6-7k rpm when doing the same speed.

Check your connections. Dirty or corroded can act like this when damp. Plug leads too at the coil and caps.

Like as in the clutch is slipping or you have electronic tach, sampling the coil or ignition for RPM source? CLUES.

Clutch is not slipping any more than usual. The engine is working harder to maintain or increase speed.

If your RPM is higher at the same speed, you are either in a lower gear to do so or your clutch is slipping.
