Before I parked it I was getting pinging when it got hot. This time I closed up the extra holes in the emulsion tubes and no pinging. Interesting how hot it gets though.

Swest... What do you mean by Emulsion? Sorry. I just rebuilt it so I'm worried about it lol. Guess I should just ride the piss out of it and only worry when I get to 500...

Emulsion tube:
Usually refers to tube with all the little holes in it where the "needle" in the slide runs up and down, under the main jet.

Re: Operating temp?

My 33's came from a moron that thought he was a tuner. He drilled holes in the mixing/emulsion tubes on the main jet circuit. Had a flat spot off idle, rich, then lean, rich again. His brother was the master but 10 years later I was on my own. I used what I had learned back in the 70's on dirt bikes and took them back to stock. Soldering etc. Almost dialed in. Just ordered 125 mains to replace my 127.5's. When I got them the mains were drilled so it was a crap shoot on what size to use. The chart says 125 main/17.5 pilot. I had the biggest pilot #80, tried a #30, won't run. Went to #70, rich, #65 better #60,lean. I figure 125/65 might be the sweet spot I'm looking for. The main does have a slight influence at 1/4 and more on up. I don't want to shave the slides if I can avoid it. I'll try opening holes before I do that. It runs strong all the way up, I'm just looking for that ZZZZIp sound at WOT.

The pinging was happening with my old Wiseco cast 1015 10.25/1 pistons. When I get a new billet one I'll have to rejet again. This time I'll have the jets and a good idea what to do.
