Regarding assembly, will the best seal be achieved by installing those particular O-rings dry, or with sealer applied?

The trick is to make a very thin 3/4 moon bead of RTV on the block, (that's the top of the cylinder block) at the 4 corner studs about an 1/8" back.
Let the RTV set up and cure a day before you put the head on and assemble.

NO! Not near the hole!!! That,s were the oil flows up to and into the head.123vucku wrote: OK yea u thought so but wasn't sure and do u mean like the hole the stud goes through ? Make a bead around there right just so it doesn't seep? And thank you and 1/8 back do u mean down the hole 1/8
You want it back at least a 1/4" away from the studs. I don't have a bare cylinder the show you with a picture.
The oil flows from the lower end up through 4 outer cylinder studs. Look at your cylinder head, at the 4 outer stud holes and you can see the oil passages, which let the oil flow into the head.
I always just did it by feel and repetitiveness over 40 years.

Does anyone have a good picture of this?
I want to make sure I put the right amount in the right place.
Thanks
