I hate to rain on your parade but you should check if you have to change the engine number on the title. If so, you might have a salvaged title and the bike is next to worthless except to you.

I like that seat. Where did you get it? Or is it the stocker cut down with new cover? Swest, don't know where you are, but I don't think many states have engine numbers on the title.

Sweat.....never heard of any issues on swapping the engine to another frame.
We do this here all the time on older cars with no issue.
Sean...bout it from Z1enterprise.
Next up is change the tank to a standard Kz(don't like the ltd)
Also still looking for a rear 18"mag

the only times that the engine vin number really comes into play is if you are doing a numbers matching or concord restoration or if you report the bike stolen and someone chops it up at a chop shop and sells the motor here in the US. otherwise motorswaps are insanely common here in the states. and with the old chevy v8 motors, when you have the block decked, you usually loose the vin number that is stamped into the block by the passenger side head. so he's safe

Some states actually title bikes by the engine AND the frame (same title) but I am sure if he is in one of those states he knows by now...

All he has to do is look at the title. If the frame # and Eng. # are there, it has to be recorded. In the Socialist state of California, the CHP or other agencies will look for it. More if he is pissed off because he pulled you over for speeding or something. Lose the bike and go to jail. No joke.
Oh, in the 80's a guy bought my used up 71 Ford F 250 in trade for a werecked KZ 900. My Z1 was down and I couldn't afford the parts. He took my truck, put all the FWD gear on it and got busted because of the numbers on the Tranny, rear end and motor. We called him Doug the thug.
I replaced all my worn out parts, cam chain gears, valves etc. and rode my Z1 intil the wreck in 86. I still have a extra tank. One of the best deals I ever made.
