 you're parting that one out? Seems close to being a very good bike. I would have started with that and been right at being done by the looks of it
my bikes; 80kz1000(project), 77 gl1000, 74 h2 (project)
Past; 78 kz1000, 83 kz550

No not parting out....I bout the bike for the engine.
Once I finish the bike in my sig....I'll be using the engine from the 79.
And use the 77 engine on the 79.
Bike is pretty complete just need a little TLC

....so i was test fitting a set of crash bars on my 79......the one bolt that was not long enough was the front top.
did the bars come with new bolts and nuts that would be longer (then originals) when purchase new?

It's relatively easy and inexpensive to make a slightly longer custom length replacement.

Can get a length of appropriate diameter plain round steel bar stock from the local hardware store, cut it to desired length, and cut treads on both ends.
The thread size must be same as the original part.
Use a nut on the end that replaces bolt-head on the original part.

If the needed diy thread-cutting tap isn't at hand, could probably get the bar ends threaded at a machine shop for very little cost.

Good Fortune! :)
