I ordered the V&H for my KZ 1000 and I must say I am disappointed by the workmanship and appearence. There isn't really anything wrong with it, it just looks cheap. Touching the welds makes me think the chrome will be gone in 4 weeks. About 8 years ago I had ordered a V&H for my Harley, totally different, much better quality. Is it just me? Hopefully it sounds good!

I found a front fender for the 78 kz650 and when I went to pick it up the guy had a Vince and Hines off a 81 650 that he gave me B)

It's not pretty but the pipes are a lot better looking then my stock ones and I think the muffler can be cleaned up , no road rash.

The welds look good and the and the baffled appears to be in good shape, so maybe I got an old enough set.

When did they start going down hill ?

I ordered a V&H for my harley a few years ago and thought it okay. Not awesome, but okay. Just put an S&S engine in last winter and decided to step up the exhaust. I ordered and installed a D&D fat cat. Talk about excellent quality and sound, damn! Unbelievable workmanship and quality.

I also have a older v&h pipe and its a nice pcs but I will NEVER buy a new one just look at 4 thekz post he had a new v&h pipe the welds cracked at the mount you can see his post and VANCE & HINES said sory about your luck. In that case I will never buy their product and I will make sure no one I know buys one. sell it and get a KERKER you will be very happy, better welds , thicker overall material so you get less if any blueing of the pipes. Just my opinion.

I remember readying that Z-1 sends back "something like" 1 out of three or four of these now because of quality issues. Like everything think its all being done in China now.

10 miles later and the wrapping found it's way out...frustrating to see quality go South, they will be out of business if they don't improve

I understand that V&H has a new corporate motto:

"We're not happy until you're not happy"

The glass-packing in mine kept blowing back and wading up. I wound up wire-wrapping the fabric to hold it down, before finally giving up and removing it.
It runs (and sounds) much better now. :woohoo:
