:pinch: you might try putting the trans in third , forth or fifth gear with the bike on the center stand and using the rear wheel to move the crank...........I've done it before :huh:nivlac wrote: Feels like the bolt is ready to break off the crank with no piston movement. Exactly, put the transmission in the highest gear possible to get the best leverage, then rock the bike.
However, let me say this. If it is stuck that hard, I would venture to guess any sort of forcing the issue like this, I'd give up and take it in. The amount of damage you might do at this point by forcing it versus paying a shop to get it loose -- and they have probably done it before, had to loosen up a stuck install -- might be cheaper to pay the shop $80 for an hour of their labor, let the experts free it up. They might get it done in 5 minutes and still charge you a full hour but WORTH IT MAN.
I can see myself getting into to it, way past the point of common sense, "I'm gonna break this sucker free I don't care what happens" then the regret.
I have done that and the self-loathing afterward aint worth it man. If you're confident you can get it freed up with no damage go for it.

Does that photo mean you freed up the 2 stuck pistons, and if so, what does the cylinder wall look like?

I'm just throwing this out there... you could make 2 small mini jacks from fine threaded 1/2-20 bolt with 2 nuts pushing a spacer sleeve / block on one end being sure to use a couple of sheet metal plates on each end so to spread the load across the cylinder and case. :S
I've never seen a cylinder with a laid over ring that far into the cylinder.....

Well, most of the hard part. When I put mine back together my biggest fear is a leaking gasket and that I'll have to re-do it. You rationalize it away by saying "well if I have to do it a 2nd time, it'll go quicker" which is a bunch of b.s. it's still the same pita, only difference is you go slower and don't drink 'anything' during the work. Good luck with the break in!
