I was having similar issues on my 76 KZ 900. It ended up being a two-part problem: 1) the jets on #1 carb were plugged with material from the rubber gasket--even though they were new carbs, and 2) my cam chain was stretched just a few mm out of specification so the cam timing was off. I replaced the cam chain with a new one from Z1 Enterprises and cleaned the carbs--now it runs great.

Got it all sorted out fellas. You won't believe what the fix ended up being......I replaced the battery.....reset the cams.....set the timing......now she's running like a top. I guess the old EFI doesnt like a weak battery. Thanks for all your help guys and without further delay.....I reveal to you Old Blue......1980 z1 classic with working efi and new motopgwerkz exhaust......
