Tri is taling about deep groove in the cam end 180 deg of lobe. The cam timming looks correct but is it timmed to crankshaft correct.....was picture taken a t-1 4
Could ignition timming be 180 out? Ive heard of that.....point plate installed wrong?

1980classic wrote: bike has electronic ignition. All pictures were taken at tdc 1/4. bike starts really easy, but runs rough with the back fire through the throttle bodies. When the bike is started it timing mark is place on the F mark. With the timing light firing the f alignment is not constant, it flutters back and forth. Only thing that makes me think I am 1 tooth off on the intake is from other pics the 28th link is more at a 12 o'clock postion
if back firing out of carbs then intake is open to long.....ignition happening while intake valve open

the hole and 4 lines are just where the cam blank was chucked up in a lathe....they mean nothing. the grove in the end of cam is the area im talking about.
Have you checked the valve clearance.....this could be it......need to check them.
