Never used that one, but it's pretty much the same as the PermaCoil and Heli-Coil kits. They all work the same. Both the HeliCoil and PermCoil taps have a longer pilot than that one.
I've had great luck keeping the chips out of the engine using thread cutting wax. Once you pack the flutes with this stuff, nearly all the chips are created past the pilot section, so the wax holds them up higher on the tap. Good stuff.
