Fin repair was created by sc/ant864
I've got a few broken fins on my head and was looking at a cheap way to repair and I think this may be the way to go. It only needs 732 degrees for working temp and above all it's cheap and made locally.

Lol yeah, I doubt it'll be in the budget to send it to Pitstop, I really want to try to fix it myself since if it works and looks good I can save money down the road haggling on heads with broken fins and have enough rod left over to fix a few. Plus it looks like it would work good for case repairs and other low stress parts although it's got very good PSI numbers Tensile-47,000, Compression-60,000 -75,000, Shear-34,000, not bad for something you can use with a propane torch.

Yes, I would think they are just a little different in the mix of alloys, the technical information is very similar.

I think I have a tube of these in my welding stuff. Keep in mind that you need to keep the base metal surgically clean to get a good weld. Keep us posted on this repair.

I was thinking the same since it's more like soldering than welding, really hope it works and doesn't sag once the head gets hot, but we'll see. I'll post every step of the repair and maybe a video.

Yes, seems theres quite a few of these products out there, it would be nice at some point to do a side by side comparison on a few heads to see which product works the best then heat them to operating temp and above to see if they all remain stable. Before I found Dura Fix I was thinking of trying aluminum arc rod but figured it would be too messy with spatter or braze silphos, but I think the silphos wouldn't flow well.
