Is it possible that someone put a 650 bucket in my 1000. It appers to only be one any advice on how or should I fix this? This doesn't make any sense because it is only one exaust valve.

so you have 7 normal shim on top buckets...but this one exhaust bucket (pictures) is damaged or might have been replaced with a 650 shim under bucket?

It looks like a damaged shim on top bucket to me......Forum please chime in!!

Na I did some poking around and it's definitely one piece and lookin at some 650 buckets it kinda looks like a 650 bucket I hope  . the attached pic looks a lil better my pic quality isen't the best the glare makes surface scratches look a Lot worse than they are I'll try and get a better pic but it's DEFINITELY one piece.

Whats the valve clearance look like?
From the picture, Blurry, it looks like it lost a shim and fubared the rim around the top of the bucket. Cam looks like it has a wear pattern also.
Better pictures would help.

Could migrate to the pan. I have a head here with a big hole in the front of it, as it spit an exhaust shim. Was on a bike I bought cheap.

KZ1000 has shim on top of the bucket, held in place by a raised rim around the bucket surface.
The cam lobe rides directly against the shim.

KZ650 has shim under bucket, and a smooth rimless surface where the cam lobe rides.

The KZ1000 at hand is supposed to have buckets with the raised rims.

Does the bucket in question have a raised rim or not?

Good Fortune! :)

Below is a 650 bucket (left) and a KZ1100 bucket with the shim removed (right).

Quick and easy way to determine what you have: rotate the bucket in the head, if it has a notch in the upper edge (marked red in the pic) it's not a 650 bucket.

Sorry to say, but to me it looks like a shim on top bucket with no shim in it, hope I'm wrong.

Btw, as a sidenote you can't just swap a 650 (or any other shim on bottom type) bucket into a shim on top head, you also need to change the retainer - the retainers in a shim on bottom setup have a recess in them to hold the shim.
