starter plug? was created by krazykzcommandeered
I has looking for a starter plug for a 79 kz650, could anyone help?
I found a couple one at z1 30mm and vented, and found another not vented, but there both labeled for 900's and 1000's

As long as your crankcase vent is working I wouldnt worry about extra venting B)

also found these no cheaper than the vented plug, but they sure look nicer,
think im gonna go ahead, take the risk n order, I'll update if it worked or not

Im not sure how good that will seal with pressure against it.
Years ago i was going to modify the starter motor end caps off a 900/1000 starter motor to use as a plug so I could mount the cover back over starter hole, maybe Ill get to it some day!

OK, i see now.... and no, no way its going on my racer :)

not really interested in seeing if this thing will or will not stay in place and drench my rear tire in oil when i am leaned way over, no thanks....

the stm sure looks nice, but at 19$ i think ill ask my friend with a lathe for another favor like i did last time...

in any case dont think that any of those plugs woul pass tech inspection at the race track anyyway

grazie mille :)

I though about dismantling the starter. But had a buddy that wants it when i take it out.
As for the inspection. Guess were gonna find out. I had planned on taking her to the track after i got the rest of fat of her.

I ordered last night. Im gonna chalk ig up as an in pulse buy. Those stm plugs look like the have rubber where there
Gonna mesh with the motor. And hope the screw in the middle makes it work like a expansion plug. Not sure yet.

if those plugs offered safety as well as well as a quick solution, would grab it no time,

as they are, there's nothing better than turning my plug with an o-ring (can re-use the one form the starter itself if skimping) and securing it with a proper safety wired screw, IMHO of course

re using the starter cover sounds kinda cool, but you have to plug its hole too and then you are left with the task of securing it to the cases. too much trouble in my book.
