So does the red box area above the bucket need to be clearanced also for a .410 or smaller cam? Or just the areas at the edge around the gasket? I guess that's where I'm not clear. And will a .410 fit without any clearance other than the valve cover as suggested? I was under the impression about .385 was the max without some clearancing on my Kz900 and the Kz1000's.

The red box on both side of the cam lobe, is the area to clearance for .410" and above.

Valve cover grinding is one thing but the head deck and around the buckets.... Scary thought....

Issues with shim spitting out in this concept or do you go under bucket shims?

This was the area I really wanted to see a picture of as it seems scary to me also.

APE says top-ships are okay, but Webcam says under-bucket should be used on their .418 .... ??? Not sure.

Since the shim buckets rotate in the head, seems to me you'd have to go 360 around in grinding blue box area and have to go under bucket....

Just thinking out loud here... probably wrong... :S

I haven't decided yet, and was more just curious about what had to be done. Likely it will end up being the Webcam 118 which is supposed to be a drop-in.

In all seriousness, I was just curious what the machining by the bucket involved as that was the region I assumed the lumpy cams needed worked on.
