if it had been my bike i would have put on a set of 38 or 40 flatslide mikunis they would have made that bike an absolute monster.

900 / 1000 KZ's were 35/15 while LTD's were 33/15.
39/15 gearing on a KZ 1000 is for wheelies... :laugh:
I was curious about that. My 900 Ltd stock is 35/15, but the PO has it geared 39/15. I was going to wait to change it once I got her running and made sure there weren't any major engine/transmission issues. Do you think I'd have to stay off the highway with that gearing?

You won't hurt anything with that gearing on the highway.
I don't know the circumferance of your rear tire but with a 79" circ. rear tire:
35/15 gearing @60mph - 3960 RPM
39/15 gearing @60mph - 4410 RPM

I am running an 18/44 530 setup with a 160/60-18 tire and 5K on the tach is right around 70 mph according to the roadside radar and I run on I95 quite a bit with no issues.
