I've found the bike redlines much quicker with the pods and jets installed, especially between about 6500 and 9500, and there is a big power boost around 8500. But I started hearing a rattling sound, inside the gear case maybe, as I come toward a stop after laying on it pretty hard in the upper rpms.

Ed—I'm actually running the 750-four. Don't know if that makes any difference.

You don't stand a chance against the Triumph but you should beat the Harley.
I have a 78 KZ650 kitted with a 720 Wiseco kit, 4 into 1 pipe some mild porting and running pod filters. I spank Harley's all day. I think you need to learn to run the bike in it's power range.

Should be spanking the harley but not the triump, Put 29 smooths, gpz cams and a piston kit, port if your in that deep and the triump is now in site. You should be be spinning that thing up to 10,000 rpm with no problem stock.

I've never met a sporty I couldn't walk all over, modded or stock, new or old. & that's 'just' a 650! Bigger carbs, cams & gear a few down then strip weight off... I've got my 650 down to 440 fueled up!

I have a little Kawi that smokes the harleys so bad they have to go home, haven't come up to a triumph though, I am finishing up an 810 now probably won't get to test it till spring, might beat my little kawi but I don't know, the little bike is extreeemly quick and I weigh 140, good combo... the little bike is an H1 500 bored ported chambers jetted weighs less than 400

I may be wrong, but I think the kz650 is faster than the prior 750's.

I have had it at around 123mph but I don't think its sustainable, but for blasting around its great, I have three of them a 70 74 and 75, the 74 is on the road, after the port job it got scary, used the TNT specs for porting and cut .025 off the head

I would love to have one of them triples man! very awsome bikes.

Ive actually put a sporster or two behind me on my 550, hahaha. I had to push it high but it did just fine when the powerband kicked in at about 7500.

I just really snapped it off the line, and gave er hell from there on.

It doesnt have near the torque, or the horsepower, or the flaming purple paintjob:lol::lol: but i got the rpms, and the balls, being as though the person i raced was a lady biker.
