Those chaep pods flow way to much unfiltered air causing an extreme lean condition.
checked plugs...dont look bad.....pulled the comp baffle packing and put back just the metal part....the happy medium
i was looking for....feels like it flows better and just a tad more raspy than with the packing.....just bought a set of k and n filters....man, you have to shop for those...factory site 195, ebay 140, online site 104 with free ship.......all part of the magic......

Check to see if the air correction jets are in fact in the carbs. They should be .9 jet size.
Do you still have points ignition?

The combo you have is a real nice street setup. Not to mild and not to wild. How does it cuise at steady throttle at say 70 - 75 MPH?

hi larry,
dyna s and i have the timing retarded due to pinging....its a lot better that way...reduced the pinging significantly....i will look sometime for the air jets.i would tend to think they are indeed there as these carbs have never been apart as far as i can tell and the p/o didnt run them for long..they were in storage for years...still have the yellow paint dabs on the screws holding down the choke shaft....i took it up the highway yesterday and it cruises very nice at 70....smooth and just hums along..no surging , no hiccups.......trying to get another ride in today..........

You may have done this already. Use KZ 35T back sprocket. Works great with the 16" wheel for a little extra acceleration and doesn't raise the RPM much.
havent done that yet....thanks for the tip though....chain and sprockets still have life,so when its time to change ,35 it is.......
