Had all kinds of pipes and exhausts in my years of riding. The only way i would use a newer Mac is of it was given to me. Tried a Mac exhaust on my '83 Virago 920, headpipes wouldn't seal, and the fit otherwise was horrible. Sold it and bought a set of jardine slipons, better fit, quality and sound. On my Z1 a few years ago, the only exhausts i tried were a Kerker and a Vance and Hines, both worked great but i prefered the Kerker wail. On my Xj650/750 hybrid i used a Kerker, a jardine and an older Alphabet (i believe), none made any better power than the stock 4:2 but the kerker had a top end to die for. Now i have the KZ650, which came with a Vance and Hines, which works well, but i miss my Kerker wail, so i got one coming. So IMHO. either get a used Kerker or New V&H, stay away from the Mac unless it is the older Kerker Knockoff which is a decent pipe. Best bet would be to find an old Yosh, but they are like hens teeth.

depending on how loud you like your exhaust system to be i just saw the vance and hines sportsman pipe on for 234.00 at oreint express and 239 at schnitz racing also your freindly neighborhood big shop that deal's with parts unlimited can also get them for around the same price and no extra shipping charges. and if it is too loud you can always buy a sreet baffle for it from vance. ii bought both of my drag headers at a kawi dealership in rapid city the last trip to sturgis.i paid 215 for the sportsman pipe and 315 for the pro pipe.
