Should I go with the Kerker or Mac ? was created by KOOL RYDER
I am going to spend the cash on a 4 into 1 for my bike. I like the look of the chrome a lot better than the all black or black /chrome can. I guess that is my personal preference. I would rather have a shiny new one than a used and abused one for peace of mind.

My question is what is the difference between the kerker vs the MAC?

If I do decide to go with the MAC what is the main difference between the cannister pipe vs the megaphone pipe?
ie. other than looks will the cannister provide more low end torque than the megaphone? Will the megaphone be louder ( I assume it would be)

Thanks for your help.

I have a mac and I don't like the way it looks or sounds, but it came on my bike and is a low priority on my spending plan right now.

Can't tell you about the power. I don't have anything else to compare it too.

So from my standpoint, it's pretty much personal preference.

I have a 2-1 MAC on my 750 twin and it's worth about what I paid ($75 used),=. The sound is OK, the performance is similar to stock, but with less low end torque because no crossover pipe. It is clear they made no effort to get the best power because the down pipes are significantly different in length, so it is clearly not tuned optimally. I had a Kerker clone before that and it made a little more power. MAC's are OK, basically a cheaper alternative to a good pipe.

You could do a search and see this subject has been beat to death.

I personally would never buy a chrome header. They are single wall construction and they are going to turn blue for 99% of the owners.

I could buy a used/parts bike with a Kerker for the price of a new Kerker.

There are some nice used ones out there some where. I have bought three this year. Roy

I agree with Roy. I have bought 2 used bikes for less than the price of a new Kerker, and one came with a Supertrapp Street System, and the other with a Moriwaki I now use on my track bike. If you have to buy new, then get one, or just wait for a used one, they are out there.

I would go with a Kerker. I have seen them selling new on Ebay for around $400 - $450. The MAC is less of course. Are you owning the bike long term? If so, what would you rather have on there? Wish you the best on your decision.

Has anyone dyno'd any aftermarket pipes? Do they really help the average street rider?

Thanks for the input. I think I am going to try fleebay untill February and after that I will splash out the cash.

One more question: Will the CSR exhaust bolt right on (the one with the crossover pipes? Any advantage?

I have spent ~1500 so far on bits and bobs and a seat, I do plan on keeping the bike until they scatter my ashes wherever, so I guess I have some time. The stock exhaust is fine for now I guess.

Thanks for the input.....I was about to punch in my credit card number on Deniskirk.com, but decided to query you gents first.

Not much. Mine put a shade more HP in the mid RPM band (about 3k to 6k) with a loss of low end torque. Not dyno reading, just my riding feel. I would be amazed if there was even a 10% increase that could be obtained by changing only pipes and jets because the bike makers wring all the power out they can and they do it for a living.
