Another Rotor Removal Problem

Another thing to add: There is no starter clutch or gear or anything on this rotor, so I could possibly use the threaded holes in the rotor for a connection to the slide hammer (there are three holes where the starter clutch would normally attach from the inside). Not having an electric starter may work in my favor.

that should have a newer style rotor on it,but i dont have one handy here to look at!are there any bolt holes on the inside of rotor?:whistle:
Yes, there are three threaded holes in the back that would normally hold the starter clutch. There are also 2 holes in the outside of the rotor where the special holder attaches. The rotor is totally stripped so there are no starter gears, no magnets, nothing. I'm sure there is a way to use a slide hammer but I was just hoping that someone had already done it so I would know what set up to use. I want to buy a slide hammer that will attach for sure. I will attach a scanned picture from my manaul. I don't have a digital here right now, so I'll post pics tomorrow sometime. This job shouldn't be this hard:angry:

If rotor is shot anyway and tool 'B' is broken in end of rotor, why not pack some towels behind rotor and cover the engine to keep the dust off and cut rotor off using a hand held abrasive saw?

Ah Ha! I get it. Special tool 'B' presses on the end of the crank by way of threads inside the rotor and tool 'A' keeps the rotor from turning as tool 'B' gets tight.

I've been trying to think of a way to cut off the rotor and not damage the crank. I may try using a friends torch to really get the rotor hot. I bit the bullet and bought a nice slide hammer/puller and heated the rotor with a propane torch, but no luck. That baby is stuck on there! Maybe if I can get it hot enough it will come loose with the slide hammer. But then I have to worry about the heat damaging the crank anyway... I guess I'll try the heat, then try cutting it, then buy a new crank anyway!

I threaded my rear axle into the rotor, with a large washer for the "bolt" end and used a 10lb barbell weight to slide down the axle as a slide hammer.
It didn't get mine off, but it works as a slide hammer.
That sounds like a good idea. That was probably a lot cheaper than the $75 puller I bought (for nothing!). So, you never got yours off?
