Mr. Kawsakiman,
Were you able to find that crank just in case? Although i yet have to split the case(family issues kept me from working on the bike), what i can see and feel thru the crankcase cylinder bore, the no. 2 connecting rod is seized to the crankshaft. The others are free to move fwd n aft except rod no. 4 which feels a little sluggish. I'd like to find a local machinist that works on small motorcycle parts.

Man i have problems: i cannot split the crankcase. all bolts/screws and accessories covers have been removed and the engine is off the frame but it just will not seperate! Any ideas???? Does the oil filter assembly has to come off as well to remove the oil pan? Help!!

on a kz1000 u must remove the oil filter . it screws into the upper case throught the bottom case. and there are 3 bolt holes ,2 in the front & 1 in the rear that u use for jack bolts. u use the larger bolts from the case as jack bolts.
tripple check that u have EVERY SINGLE BOLT OUT FIRST.even the bolts on the top of the motor. some of them go into the bottom case.

Thanks Mark1122, i'll look it over again tonite. I can't help but noticed, where did you get the fender eliminator kit? Or did you fab it?

I've been watching this post and hoping for the best for your engine.

It's easy to eliminate your fender by just taking off the stock one, and using a couple brackets to mount your stock light or one off another bike. Then fab up a license plate holder off the rear most frame mounts.
First time around with the stock light, I used a piece of plastc to fill where the fender was removed.
Second time around with a ZX6E tail light, I used a second stock plastic inner fender cut short to fill in where the stock chrome fender fits:

I actualy looks better from a distance. i did a bit of a test hack job on it .but it works for now.i would like to make it a little longer so i dont throw as much mud up on my lt. i will do it again . i have a zx12 lt imay use as well?

here is what i did.
i carved up the rear fender. i attached the tail light directly to the bottom of the tail piece. then i bolted the lic. Plate to the fender piece. What a mess. but it is a progression.
Previously i had the plate attached to the lt with a bracket and no fender. i'm still thinking up plan d.:laugh:

Thanks for the pics. I like it. While waiting for my engine parts I'm going to start the mods. Yes I got the crankcase apart and the crankshaft is shot. Nos 2 and 4 connecting rod journals are all scarfed up. In fact the rod bearing is still "welded" to the journal on no. 2. I definitely need another crankshaft.

Folks, I'd found an outfit that specializes on motorcycle crankshafts. They can weld and nitrite the damaged journals for me and re-heatreat.Takes about 2 weeks. For cheaper costs, I was advise to find undersized bearings.

I am not so sure on the welding up the crank, dollar wise I think it could be replaced for a lot less money, I do have a 78 engine that the top end was ruined, due to water, I think the bottom end is still in good shape, if you want I can check it to see,,let me know

I'd have to second that, just to buy the new bearings if you can find them would be more than you should be able to get a used engine for. Start combing your local Craigs list for a parts bike either a 650 or a 750. I know that kind of stuff is out there I bought a 750 LTD engine off ebay locally with 18K on it for $40.00 the only thing wrong with it was they had it over filled with oil so it smoked. I changed the oil in it and now it runs fine and doesn't smoke a bit.
