metal mild steel id say,
its punched out you can tell by the edges.
about a inch by a 1/4 and 1/16 thick.
looked through the parts list for my engine and i dont see it anywhere.
where did it come from!
love a mystery!

A keyring, a pack of doobie doo's and a lil' black doohickey. How the hell did they get there...unless....you got hippies. Look for a van...them keys go to something.!

Are the black things metal or rubber?

By your description it sounds like it's a spline key.

ill be honest it could have been there for almost 20 yrs.
and as i can't identified it from the engine parts diagram im thinking its nothing to worry about!

how ever the rolling papers and a rubber duck key ring means i still have serious issues.

Wait! I didn't notice the drawing materials in the upper corner! You don't got hippies....you got artists!!! OH CRAP ....maybe you got hippee artists!! Get the witch..er...wife to bake some Alice-B-Tokeless Brownies and put them under a large box propped up by a stick. When you get them take them at least 20 miles away before releasing them. Send the leftover brownies to me.

Yeah my guess is cam chain guide. Stamped metal. I'd investigate.
