Was wandering if you were after info on the difference between symetrical and assymetrical cams as single pattern vs dual pattern it seems to be self explanatory although the only time a term like this would be used would be on single stick cams with dual profiles

Once I had a 1013cc Z1 motor that needed some cams.
All I had was two mix-match cams laying around the garage. I had a time limit and needed something fast. This combination should of never worked, but it turned out to be one of my best set ups, ever.

.410" lift intake
.388" lift exhaust
300* intake duration
288* exhaust duration
109* intake L/C
116* exhaust L/C
112.5 LSA
29* overlap

In my book, this should not work at all. Well it ran good enough to beat a air shifted 1170(built by a local shop). The only new parts in that motor was the gasket set.

i've been running a very mild old yosh intake cam and stock exhaust cam in my 1075 street motor for years and two years ago in sturgis it made 114 horse and 79ft of torque on the dragstrip dyno so i'd say they that kind of mismatchin cams works quite well. my big motor is going on the dyno next week or so and i'm running .460 intakes and .435 exhaust cams. grind 122/125 web cams i'm running them straight up at first for some bnaseline runs then i'm gonna degree them to web spec's and see what kind of numbers different there are. so i can let every body know.
