BENT VALVES?

BUT...you have to be sure the chain is timed properly before you can do that.
My guess is that you DID bend a valve(or more)but to find out for sure, you have to get that chain timed again.
When you get it timed, turn it over and if sounds like it's turning over without plugs in place, then yup...damage is done, and it's time to pull it apart and get learning.
And don't feel bad, because SO MANY of us have been there.Twice in 3 years for me,lol.
How many for you guys,Plummen?...Rock? :silly:

Nope, not me, I do everything 100% perfect! hahahahahaha...
Shitman, I blew up the top end of my Yamaha IT250 dirt bike years ago.
Brand new piston & rings, bored and honed (by professionals, not I), new gaskets, all installed & torqued, Boysen Power Reeds... First kick she roared to life...
Oh Shiza did she roar, full phucking throttle without me on the throttle grip.... WTF!... blew piston & rings pieces practically right through the head and knarled the cylinder all to hell, melted/ripped to shreds...
Seems I wasn't paying close enough attention to detail on the carb sleeve insertion. One side of sleeve slot is wider than the other... In other words, installed 180 backwards. She received full throttle and that's all she took, full red line.
The amazing thing was she was red lining and the kill switch wouldn;t even kill her. All I could do was shut off the gas until depleted...
NOT A GOOD DAY for OMR!
Drank a considerable amount of booze that night...
Ok, and the engine case... that was truly phucking stupid on my part....

Is this because you crapped your pants so bad that you had extra protection?
Turbo 1428.... Wholly Crapola (no pun intended)...
No thanks, my 1015cc with the .365 cams is quite enough for me...

As RON has said, I have been contemplating doing this for months and finally need to get the hands dirty again.
It is freaking cold here in Calgary. -20 C. But I am alreaday for any early 5 to 10 C ride in March so i need to get the bike back to life.
I already have a new valve cover gasket. So I should be able to open her up here on the weekend. Stay tuned for photos of this major F-UP!!! I gues it is time to join the club.
I have the clymer and another shop manual, believe it or not using the clymer got me into this mess.......I guess the clymer manual should come with a disclaimer.....
"this book will assist you in the regular maintenance and upkeep of your motorcycle, however, it is not a gurantee that you will instantly become a mechanic and will not prevent you from being a dumbass".
I figure it will take me all weekend to get her sorted.
Any advice for prying the cover off? I know to make sure all of the bolts are out, but how about a hammer and a block of wood to break the seal, or a rubber mallet?
Thanks again dudes
