i wonder if they were ever actually a manufacturer or just a familiar face to slap on a box of somebody elses parts, that tends to happen!;)

Originally RC pistons were made by Venolia, they may have changed over the years...17mm. is a standard wristpin size- I use APE's tool steel pins, good enough for Elmer Trett, good enough for jokers like me.You don't need the aluminum buttons with the small 9mm. end with them and can use standard buttons or even the circlips if you choose. Try Total Seal for rings, you just need the diameter and ring land size to see if they can help you out.Good luck.

Thanks guys for all the info, Here is a pic of the button,it measures 17mm across the widest point, the smaller end is 9mm, and extends 9mm, overall length is 16mm. I have the old set of rings, i just thought when i rebuild, it would be a good idea to use new ones. These did not look bad, just never measured them for wear yet!! How long ago has it been sine RC made piston kits like this. When i was younger in the 80's i remember seeing all the ads in the magazines.

So we're not going to post the ring sizes?

As forthe buttons, if the pistons have clip grooves, just use clips. Some pistons had the sides milled away by the pin holes, so you had to use buttons that actually fin in the wrist pin. The ones we did were aluminum.

Total Seal said they could hook me up on the rings, plus they are right here in Arizona. I just took the pistons to them. Thanks for the help everyone...:)

i was told by a friend of mine years ago rc engineering's early z1 900 kits were stock honda cb450 twin pistons and rings. i know that is going back along time but is there anybody out there who can confirm this. as far as the button issue goes i've never had a problem with using the teflon buttons in any motor i build for my self. idon't know if i would use the aluminium buttons because i don't think the buttons rubbing on the pin bosses would be much good for them.

Now I fully understand why racing teams use these buttons...

I just installed my pistons last night... What a pain in the ass to get the second clip on with the piston is in place on the crank rods...

timebomb33; I believe you are correct stating the CB450 ring use. I've got 4 sets that remain from back in the day. I didn't use them because the oil ring is one piece. It probably would have worked great, but didn't seem as trick as a 3 piece assembly. They are in the drawer with the Norris "410" grind cams. Thanks for jogging my memory, ride safe, Steve

Old Man Rock; You got any pictures to share on your project? (Not interested in the ones of the cut, bleeding fingers used to insert circlips) Ha

That is absolutely correct. I made hundreds of 1015 kits like that. Sold them to everyone.
Don't think RC was doing that. Just myself and Action fours.

The one piece ring was OK when the bore was new, but if you used a CB500 twin rings they were the same, but with three piece oil.
