I noticed about a week ago the z1 was starting to run on the rich side and my gas mileage was beginning to drop. I have a k&n airfilter in it, i got 4 new plugs, cleaned and re-oiled the k&n and the bike ran better. However when i would start her up she would throw out a big puff of white smoke, and when i would get off the highway after running her at 70 mph for a half hour, it was expelling a whitish gray smoke when i would throttle it up at a light. I ordered a new emgo type stock air filter from z1, and put it in today, cleaned the plugs off, fired up and there was no white smoke and it was running alot stronger. I went out on the frontage road by my house and decided to kick the shit out of it. That was a mistake, i made it around the corner, and in my stupid self thought maby you should do this from a dead stop. I let the clutch out slow than cracked the throttle wide open and almost went sailing off the back. I almost red lined it going into 2nd gear cause i couldnt shift fast enough. I just held it wide open and kept shifting i glanced down at the speedo and last seen 120 mph. I had to stop at the gas station on the corner, cause she actually freeked me out for the first time since owning her. When i went to leave the gas station i barelly touched the starter button and it fired to life running smoother than it has ever ran. I rode it normally the rest of the way home cause i was scared to actually get on her, but hell i guess thats the way its supposed to be.

Happened to me yesterday too... I found a very nice flat, straight, and smooth section of country road that was nearly a mile and a half long. I wondered to myself how long the bike would take to hit 80 mph from a stop. I drove down the whole section of road looking for anything that would catch me by surprise on my 0-80 run. All looked good with no hidden driveways or anything.

I then turned around and came to a stop, revved it up and let the clutch out real nice. I just kept shifting and forgot to look at the speedometer until about 115. I hadn't done this before on the bike and I was surprised how quick it got there! I turned around, did it again, and then went home. The bike felt like it ran a little better afterwards. It was probably happy that I blew all the old carbon out. :D

Glad to hear your ok other than a skid marks in your skivies...

oldkaws4ever got bitch slapped by the KZ GOD's.
Sorry, couldn' resist...

I remember something similar when I was a kid... Inserted the carb sleve 180 degrees out. Fired her up and she was on full throttle where the only way to turn her off was to turn off the gas and ride her out.

Crapped all over myself...
