Oil cooler yea or na

I may seem a bit on the dumb side for asking this but I have always gotten great feedback here! On my 82 kz 750H I have one of those Lockhart oil coolers. The bike is still in a project phase, and I am wondering if it is necessary? Is it really benificial? And if so, how can I make it look better. This one is older and the lines to and from look fairly wore out, not to mention they appear to leak on the bottom end. I know there are a lot of guru's out there so please give me some opinions! Thanks!!

Are you running a bigger piston kit? Are you running a higher than stock CR? Do you do a lot of stop and go driving in a hot climate? If you answer "No" to one or all of those questions then you probably won't need a cooler.

That would be all no's except for climate. I am in central CA and the summers are pretty hot here but I always keep good oil in it. So my next question is, how do I remove it? Its a stock bike aside from a 4 into 1.... for now!!!

Have wondered about possibility of mounting oil cooler "upside-down" to show less oil line hose before it disappears underneath the fuel tank.

Oil cooler lines from engine fittings loop up behind carbs and run along frame rails underneath fuel tank to oil cooler.

I wish somebody had made a cooler to fit my 750 twin, I definitely wanted one (still do, I don't believe they exist). I live in north Kali and it doies get hot here. I had an oil pressure gauge on mine for a while, and the hot idle oil pressure on mine was dropping to about 15 psi. I sure wish I had an oil cooler on mine, don't know why you'd want to junk it.

I believe you'll need the original fittings for the oil pressure sender and also the drain plug is usually modified for the oil return path on an aftermarket cooler.
