Wow you actually got a Harley rider to ride with you. I can't even get them to wave at me. Where I live there are about 6 of us who ride non Harley bikes and about 200 Harley's none of the H/D guys will even talk to us.

Most of them are lawyers and will charge you if they talk to you

I live near Portland, Oregon and my rider is a '76 KZ900 I bought new. I'm also in the process of restoring another one and a '73 Z1.

The man makes the machine, not the other way around. As for Lawyers, they're just out law bikers in business suits.

I'm 60 and have always had and loved Harleys and still have a highly modified 1987 FLH and 4 KZ 1000s in various stages. I think a alot of people are shallow minded and sometimes just plain dumb when it comes to attitude about MC brands. I'm amused when I ride up to a place like Luckenbach and get different looks from different people depending on what I'm riding that day. I've been to BMW national rallies, Moto Guzzi national rallies and many Harley rallies and most of the Harley guys are the least informed of the bunch and I think that's too bad. I love Motorcycles and appreciate the effort people put in their rides and leave it at that

This happens to me just about every morning. The KZ takes me to work, the HD sits in the garage.

I get plenty of use out of both my bikes. The KZ is always the one to spark more conversations at stop lights and parking lots. If you been on a HD you are aware of the endless hand hellos of the road. Seems the HD guys think the KZ is one of their own when I coming down the road (always get the hello wave), must be the chrome. I don't play camps, just love to ride and wrench. Love my KZ because it's SPECIAL, ride my HD because it gives me a different level of satisfaction.

I was at a cafe with a friend with a huge custom Harley having a cigar. This stock Harley guy in a big cut came over and was talking to us. Started hating on my bike saying how he bought one new for 700 bucks as a kid and it was a poor mans ride. I didn't say much until he started bragging about his proformance mods. Said hed race me to show how a real bike should run. I politely declined a couple times. As the afternoon wore on and cigar or two later he kept at it. I finally said I only race for pink slips and I don't think you own yours so sit down and shut up!

...Harley' guys aren't as dumb and uninformed as you may think. Sticking together is just part of their image. One I do not agree with, that's why I tend not to ride with them.

...When I was in my 30's, I worked at a Harley Dealership working on all the Jap bikes that came through the doors for service and repairs. It was part time, after my regular job at night and on Saturdays. I had a blast, messin' with the hard headed Harley mechanics and sales people there. Had some heavies, too. Was warned that one, x-Viet Nam Vet that had a few screws loose, might just kill me one day. Ha! I just laughed. After a while, we all became great friends. I was their token in house Jap rider. But, with a little time and lots of ball busting from my side, they came around and became more human. Actually became pretty friendly guys after a while to other brand riders, as well. Some just live in caves and need to be brought into the light. You'd be surprised how much they are just like any other rider out there. Especially, when you catch them 1 on 1. It's when you get a bunch of them together they get that "pack" mentality goin'. No one wants to be the first hard guy to show he can be a nice guy. ;)

...One more thing. I get just as many Jap riders NOT waving to me when I'm on my Harley, as I do Harley riders NOT waving to me when I'm on my Kawasaki's. So, just keep wavin,' they'll weaken. Whatever it is you ride!
