A Harley and a Kaw!

I think most people who crap on other brands have usually trailered their bike to an event and rode it to the bar or are stopped at the coffee shop 5 blocks from home. In short they are owners not riders. If you meet up with someone who actually rides it's usually all good. I don't get to ride as often as I would like(work, family, etc) and I still have more miles on my Sporty than most of the big bikes I see for sale on CL or eBay.

I don't live to ride, I ride to live.

There are two "Bagger" Hogs in my area. They don't ride them like I do my Z1. On CL most of the bikes for sale are HD's. A classic "Rice Burner" comes up and they're GONE.
I was pissed back in the 80's when Harley wanted to put out a 5 valve motor but the Fed stopped them. I never wanted one then or now. Not my bag.

I agree. CL is FULL of HDs. And the guys that sell them want 90% of what they paid new, plus 95% of what they paid for the customization. Rarely does a classic bike come up on CL that isn't in need of TLC, but even the ones that need a little love seem to move.

My own relatives are guilty of this... never ever been on a bike. ever. They go down, buy a HD, take the rider course, spend 1k on HD shirts, hats, leather, shirts for the wife, shirt for the dog, some stickers for their truck window and then suddenly they are bikers and all other bikes who don't own a HD are pretenders. hehe.

And, group, my name is Andy, and I want a Harley. There, I said it. But for the time being, I cannot and will not fork the cash over for one. But someday I will. But believe you me, I will always have my KZ's :). The HD I want though is not a bagger... I personally like the Breakout.

Guys, I've always looked at it this way... Harley's, UJM's,European bikes, scooters, mopeds, etc. if it has 2 wheels and moves, I like it and I think it's awesome when someone rides anything with two wheels, just because of the simple fact that the person understands what riding is like.

I've had Beemers, Hogs, Hondas, Yammers, Kawis and a Soviet era Ural w/ sidecar. 175cc to 80 CI. 35 year old to riddem out the showroom new. Which is my favorite? What ever I'm straddling! They all have good points and lesser points. They all had different capibilites. I enjoyed them all.
In my opinion, as long as your on 2 wheels your taking the same risks as I am on the roads, Untill you prove otherwise, your a brother to me..

I don't have a plan and I'm sticken' to it! '77 KZ 650 / 750 GPz custom project in progress

...Hahaha! That's called stubborn pride. ;)

I just told them I don't ride a Harley because I ride a classic! I also said I would buy a Harley when the Kaw wears out......

I live near Portland, Oregon and my rider is a '76 KZ900 I bought new. I'm also in the process of restoring another one and a '73 Z1.

A huge biker named Reek cam up to me at the restaurant years ago and asked me, "Steve, I don't want to know why you ride a Kawasaki, I want to know why you don't ride a Harley." I told him I didn't like the style and the attitude that went with it. He stood up and said, "good answer" and walked away. That was at Bill's Hamburger Haven.
My 7 year old daughter told another biker, "My daddy says Harley's sound like a bean fart." These guys know me and have seen what I'm liable to do if FK'ed with. I don't cheat fair. He looked at me and asked, "Did you say that?" I just smiled, took a sip of my Coors long neck and said, "Yup." They never asked my opinion again.

I LOVE THIS! I have been a BI-Biker since 1981. When I bought this 1975 FLH. It was a bagger before baggers were hip!
I love all motorcycles! I have Harley Ink in my body. Not Kawasaki. Harley is the 3rd most notable marketing design in the world behind coca-cola and another? I have owned 1 HD and over 25 Z1-KZ's. in the past 40 years. can take apart & rebuild anyone of them without a manual. Painted, welded, modified, dragraced, dirt drag raced, sled weight pulled all of them. And when I can't swing my leg over one, It will be time for a trike!

Livin in "CheektaVegas, NY
Went thru 25 of these in 40 yrs.
I SOLD OUT! THE KAW BARN IS EMPTY.
More room for The Old Girl, Harley 75 FLH Electra Glide,
Old faithful! Points ign. Bendix Orig. carb.
Starts everytime!

Yeah, I'm with you, won't be able to make those hole shots anymore. Might as well be in a cage.

hello people; I'm new. Back to the OP riding in Memphis. I've been there a couple of times not on a bike but visiting my neice who's about to move west after being there a few years. On Beals St. a few times a year or every Wed, night they shut down the street and let bikes line up. It looks like Laconia. It looked cool and coming back from the Stacks museum I saw a whole side of a building with the club logo Black Swordsman. I believe it's on Southeern Ave. It kinda blew me away with the size of the logo and club building. But the mountains is where you should be and I heard it's hours away from Memphis.
I like most MC's Jap, Ero, American.
