Yes, thank you for that Mikaw. Nice find. Appreciated. I do have an inquiry into Jim Goebel/ Redline in case I decide to dig deeper into this "trap" MC rebuild.
So far,so good.
EDIT- Redline Trapezoid MC bottom O Ring UPDATE-
He's got em in stock. 12.99 each now / 2 order min. plus the USPS postage.; if that helps anyone later down the road.

Late to the game here and just read a few post. Keep reading that your Moto is a LTD, it’s not it a Kz1000a1.
My first kz was a 77 kz1000a1 just like your and still have after 25 years. Started a Resto mod 10 years ago and haven’t finish it cause I keep buying motorcycles.lol
yiu doing a great job on yours and you’ll be rewarded with lots of smiles pretty soon.

Re: So.......I Bought A Turd And I Blame You Guys
03 Mar 2023 05:58Im old enough to remember rebuilding drum brake wheel cylinders. Back then we always ran a 2 stone hone through the bore. Our beloved Kz’s are the same vintage so it would make sense to use the same process.
~~~>>> We used to use our fingers and plumbers emery cloth, which is around 120 grit. Never had any leaks.
Then we took the sheen off the drum with the same stuff.
Got both brakes bled and working, also dry fit a stock airbox I bought from Wheelhop's contact when I went with him on his last adventure.
Also bought new rear shocks and handlebars. Still waiting on my body kit from z1parts 13 weeks later.....
No longer a turd! Can't wait for the body kit and new seat to transform this former #2 to a solid 1.
Moose, what shocks did you get? I'm thinking about getting some series 12 shocks from Progressive for the 77' KZ 1000LTD. They work really well on our 82' 900F even though Paul and I are 100lbs apart. We don't need to adjust the preload when we swap bikes.
