Newer Bike or not?

Couple of things. If you sell, I would look into doing a contract deal. It will eliminate of lot of buyers but can create an incentive should the buyer decide shortly later the bike is not the one.

If you decide to keep and buy another, i'd get something different to contrast what you have. If I got something newer but very similar, that would probably make it easier to find the older bike less interesting. On the otherhand, a newer different style bike just may highlight the older bike good points enough to over look its faults.

strum wrote: Since I have had my shafty (which i love by they way) I have found the downside is parts.. every time i need a part its a scavenger hunt.
And every time i decide to check something out ..i find it needs work..yall know . rubber grommets cracked or missing,
cables obsolete or at least hard to find, wiring deteriorated. bolt/srews missing or wrong ect.. and lets not forget . a little fall that seams minor that ends up costing $600-800 and a bunch of time chasing the parts.
So i have overcome most of this and I feel Im back to owning a very nice 1980 ST.
Now Im asking ..Do I give and buy something newer, or stay with it.
The upside to a newer bike is less of these hunt and chase parts . But every newer type bike i look at just dont do it for me.
They all look like oh how do you say it?.. crap B)
I love the way the KZs look and ride and nothing new has that look or feel.
I just wish they would do a Retro KZ type bike for once.
Case in point I saw a 2006 Ninja 500 very very low miles ..like new for $2,500 But I just cant see me walking out of a restaurant
(by the way we are hard core..we never pass a Dairy Queen) and climbing on the little Ninja with pride.
Its just a cookie cutter teenager bike to me. And then theres the bigguns ..Like the 1600 Mean Street. Its cool but still I feel like its a Harly wannabee .
Maybe Im just stuck in the 70.s lol

Anyone he have any experience with these and is the price fair?
The owner is the 2nd and he is a Kawasaki mechanic who works at a dealership.
he said he is very particular and always changed the oil every 1000 miles and adjusted the valves ever 5000.
Says tires are like new and so are the brakes. He told me it only needs gas lol.
I spent quiet a bit of time talking to him and I get the feeling he is being straight.

You're gonna love the zrx. I have ridden one for the last 2 seasons and I wouldn't give it up now! :cheer:

Im not sure I want to sell the shaft yet but you never know.
I threw some dough at it since November but we all know ill never get it all back and thats ok.
I guess my plan is to get the ZRX home and after some time with each Ill decide.
I had planned on buying another shaft but it never worked out.The seller had a lot of family issues and its just become a Ill call you next week for way too many weeks. So I kind of took that as my answer.

Drooze thats a good looking bike. If I had my choice i would choose the read or blue.
Not really a green fan (theres a billion green Ninjas) but this on wears it well.
I may need to ask you some things about it if thats ok.

Well at least let you have first dibs not necessarily for the same amount. I missed the part about you checking out a new ride zx12. Looks good.

Got ya.
I posted this before I decided to make an offer on the 1200. If money wasnt an option then I certainly would have a bunch of KZs.

I looked up the ad you posted, it looks sweet. Just for fun I searched locally, there are a couple near by one priced higher but didn't look to be in as good condition and the other was older and priced less but had some issues.

Well, apparently green is the 'fastest' color.

They're great bikes. Old skool style with more modern tech. ;)

Ask any time. Always glad to chat. B)

major problem i didn't even consider. When i got the shaft my wife had never ridden before and she was very hesitant to get on but after a few rides she loves it. And its something we can enjoy together.
She tried to get on the zrx .. not happening. I mean she can get on with effort but its very uncomfortable to her.
Its not really made for a 53 year old lady passenger in mind
Now im banging my head!! Its the bike of my dreams. what was i thinking? I need a younger wife :woohoo: :woohoo:
No really this is a problem i didnt expect.

Order a Corbin or other aftermarket seat. Maybe get some passenger pegs that drop slightly down a bit. EBay has tons of slightly used stuff like that

It won't be as cool looking but you can swap seats back and forth depending in whether you are 1 or 2 up.
