Once again I am looking at intercoms, last year we had other things to buy that were more important.
This year I am hoping to find a pair that are good, loud and won't break the bank.
CB would be the best way to go but they are not in the budget.
If anyone has a bluetooth set that they like using I would like to hear about it.

I've got a U-Clear brand but haven't used it much
but what I have I found I don't like it much for two up riding seems to be a little over power'd
with both units being that close and at times its hard to understand what Vickies saying
but get off the bike walk 10 feet apart and it works great.
It has a 1/4 mile range and I'd like to put one of the head set in a buddys helmet and go ride
and see how it worked bike to bike.

The CB band is way too susceptible to ignition noise. A pair of GMRS radios work fine as long as your talking bike to bike. On a two up you are too close together and desensing occurs and sounds garbled. A hard wire set is more inconvenient but will be clear.

Good info guys, thanks.
We both have our own bikes, interesting to know that cb's have that problem with these old ignitions I'm glad we didn't spend the extra money only to find that I would have to change the ignition too.
Lots of reviews out there and I will check out the U-Clear,
A big problem for me is my hearing, not good :( and I will probably need a new helmet to accommodate the new devise too

Out of the blue for last Christmas Our oldest son bought us a pair of Sena SMH5 intercoms :woohoo:

We have been using the crap out of them and after a full season somewhere around 60 battery cycles and probably 240 hours of talk time they are still working well.
We only get about 6+ hours of talk time and we carry battery back ups for when we go over( the units use a common jack that works in both our phone too B) )


They are really handy and we have became very reliant on them, 2 heads are better then 1 when it comes to looking out for hazards, road signs, needing to pull over for something, spotting Eagles, deciding where to grab a bite, you name it.

For an entry level intercom somewhere around 225 bucks it is easy to operate and has other features that we didn't use like hooking up to your phone/stereo and adding other people.

The only problem we had was my wife's microphone lost it's foam cover and it took me a couple of weeks to figure out that it wasn't her visor seal that was the problem :blush:
Getting Sena to do anything about it was a big email tag thing so I ended up buying a new microphone on ebay for less then 10 bucks delivered.

The sound is pretty good usually up to and past 70 mph if there isn't a big cross wind and the noise cancellation works well up to that point.
It starts to crackle if we get more then 250 feet from each other but doesn't normally dump the connection and if it does it is easy to hook back up on the fly.

It would be nice to get more talk time on a charge but over all for the price it is a good deal and if you ride with a partner a lot it's a very cool devise.
