that's what I tell the ladies when it comes to dating, it is the same as "buy local". the idea is Japanese but it is assembled in america.bluej58 wrote: I hear this crap " buy American" and I feel like saying , my bike was built in America "both times" and the only Communist made parts on her are the throttle cables and now the front sprocket :pinch:

Gen Xers and gen Yers don't have the disposable income of boomers. We wern't able to walk into great paying jobs right out of school like boomers were able to.

Most of the boomers didn't buy a HOG until 20+ years into their careers. Most of them didn't just waltz into some high paying job but saw rampant inflation wipe out their buying power in the late '70s as well, something that doesn't exist today, at least that's what we're told. I'm no defender of boomers even though some claim I came along at the tail end of the boomer era. Most boomers don't own a HOG either, however, quite a number of people around here, much younger than boomers, own a HOG, so it is not out reach if that is one's desire.

     You're describing me! I walked right out of school and found a good job paying mega bucks ($1.25 per hour before taxes)! I was going to buy some Ferraris and maybe a few Corvettes, but I got a used 350cc BSA instead.    Ed

go into the auto parts store and ask for the float height setting on a 73 ford 390 fe block and the older guys get quiet, I think it is to show you asked the younger guys something they don't know.650ed wrote:

not sure why everyone who rides a 30 year old kaw wants to bash Harleys
as most of us know the rider has allot (most) to do with street racing
but come on guys if you believe that a 1200 sportsdter cant be made to run fast and
look like it was just bought your mistaken
their are a few 25+ yearold harleys i ride with unless your set up with a turbo or
a on the bottle dont take your title you will lose your motorcycle
our local Harley shop has a poerformance department and the guy is good at taking those 1200's
doin the heads recarbin (or progemming) dyno tuning puttin a sneaky pete bottle
on that like I said if your not runnin a drag race ready 1340 you better not
mess with even then those boys are on the back wheel at 120
dont mean to ruffle feathers but allot of these young guys can ride and have deep
pockets just my .02
