"Cruiser" is a popular belief, but am unaware of any "official" word on this from KHI.

Remember that Simpsons episode where Homer tries to figure out what his middle name is because he only know the initial, "J."? And then he finds out that his middle name is Jay?
Yeah.
Yeah.

I asked this question years ago and never got an answer. I used to think that the SR model stood for Street Racer. And CSR was Cruising Street Racer. But I have never heard anything official.
Now "Martin_CSR" is a marketing genius, and developed the terminology:
Competition, Sports & Road.
This works for me.

While "Ltd" may have meant "Limited" in its abbreviated form somewhere in the distant past of automotive sales, I think it's safe to say that the Kawasaki Ltds were anything but limited in number. Likewise, it seems that "SR" and "CSR" were merely marketing marques and may have stood for something specific that has been forgotten and was never put into ad copy for posterity. It's also likely that they stood for nothing at all but just looked cool at the time.

Re: CSR = Cruiser
29 Mar 2013 13:45 - 29 Mar 2013 13:54This topic comes up once a month, once every two months, and it's debated into various interpretaions/personal interpretations and no one ever uses the resources available to shed light on the subject.
Today's marketing department at Kawasaki acknowledges it as a "Performance Cruiser" as the product type.
"1000 CSR" as the marketing name.
So it's safe to say/assume that CSR stands for "Cruiser".
Follow all of that up with current available "Look-Up" information, and here is how you "Get there from here".
Open for more debate and interpretation. :silly:
