is a 73 Honda CL 350 rare?
27 Jan 2013 14:04
Hi guys,
Last year I helped out a buddy of mine by getting his 75 Honda CB 125 back on the road after sitting for 10 years. Now this year he's got a 1973 Honda CL 350. I have yet to see it, but it sounds like it's your typical barn find and needs the usual TLC. It apparently ran but not well before it was parked a few years back.
Anyway, I've been starting to gather information and such so come spring I can hit the ground running. Now, I found a website saying that the 73 model (K5) is supposidly rare model? The serial number fits the range given by the site, so maybe it is "rare".
Any thoughts on this? In working but not showroom condition anyone care to put a ballpark number on what this little guy is worth?

The condition of the pipes will make the biggest difference. It's sort of the signature piece for that bike. It's also the first part to rust out and is also what makes the bike a little more difficult to work on. (Not to mention give you nice burns in the summer
.)
I'd say $500 to $800.

Only thing I remember about the CL350's is that I dropped one around a corner once. In my defence, it was my roommate's and he forgot to tell me that the back wheel was moving around somehow :pinch: Not sure about the CL or CB twins, but I can tell you the little fours are what seem to be the desirable collectables (350/400 SS). With prices varying in the $1500 for a shabby one, to $5,000 for nice example. All the Honda twins I ran across are in the $500 to $1500 range. So I would say no. Unless there is something special about that model/year twin. I know the CB450 I had wasn't very exciting. But I guess they are becoming more popular as a cafe conversion. But you are asking Kawasaki guys this question, so only take it for what its worth.

Thanks guys. I realize I'm asking Kaw guys a Honda question, but I don't belong to any Honda sites and I know alot of you guys have years of experience.
Lou - I've heard that same thing about the pipes being the $$ part. He told me the pipe comes up real high on the right side, but I'm pretty sure every stock pipe I've seen was on the left (shifter side). Maybe he is confused or it's not stock...
I had a 73 CB 500 four for a little while. (project bike I flipped for cash/hobby). It ran good, but my 550 LTD seemed like a Z1 compared to that dog.

The VJEMC price guide puts a running, but cosmetically challenged K5 at about US$1400. Can't speak for the rarity as I no longer follow early Hondas on eBay (although currently, there is not a single CL350 on eBay for sale). My gestalt is that the more collectable CL's are those from the 1960's, not the 1970's.

Anything for the 70's here in AZ is getting ridiculous and harder to find...
Shit load of bobbed projects that never were completed of course, too bad....
I've been looking for an SL350 (LUV'd them) but for a crappy/non running/rusted one they still want $1500.... And they're hard to find yet....
This one I'd luv to get but for $3200, hell I can find a Z1 hopefully.... Granted wouldn't already be primo'd out but damn....

Yes, my wife informed me that in the dragon tatoo books she drove a older 125 kaw, but in the movies I believe it was a small honda twin cafe. I was quite impressed the wife was able to point that out to me!
