A dead stop at Pike Place Market, Seattle was created by peavylotus
I was riding through the Pike Place Market a few blocks from my apartment. When I stopped at the stop sign at the end of the brick road, Its been pouring rain all day, I let off the clutch on a feathered throttle to take off. At some point unbeknown to me, the rear tire lost traction and spun. I had let off the clutch and started to pull away. When I cocked the bars left to turn, I swung a complete 180 degrees and I was now facing and heading towards the car behind me. I pulled the clutch once I unfroze from confusion as to what was happening. I didn't fall or kill the bike but It scared me like no other. All day my rear tire got loose on the rainy asphalt. So if your in Seattle, all that oil on the roads from our drought is really apparent in this heavy rain.

Scary feeling isnt it ???? :woohoo:

I did the same about 8 years ago. I had the wife on the back of my HD Ultra West of Tucson , AZ. About 3pm on a hot sunny day. I was stopped at a traffic lite in the middle of BFE. I started off from a full stop and the rear tire swung out from under me and did a half circle to to right reversing my direction and placing me into the opposing traffic lane. Thanks to God and dumb luck their was no traffic coming. Looking down I could see that someone had spilled about a gallon of some kind of fuel on the asphalt and it had turned the road to grease. Never dropped the wife or bike , but it was a very unsettling feeling. Sure didnt expect black ice conditions in 90 plus temps while riding by cactus. Made me sharpen my level of awareness for hazards , never know whats around the next corner or spilled in the most unlikely places. Sure could use a underwear change after a event like this

I can't believe you're riding in this rain. I'm in Seattle too. The rain has been dumping. Hit me up on a dry day for some riding sometime.

i love that bike, but if they actually rode it in the rain that rear wheel would just throw all the water on the pods.

If'n you're ridin after plenty o'rain an you're still spinning the tire you ain't trying to survive!!!!

Know your surfaces and know your tires.

Smooth control inputs is what it's all about.

you want to be careful with that rain, i had to re position my throttle cable because it went right over the right hand coil and as i was riding through Tenino, WA I experienced some rain on the freeway, going north. As soon as that happened I started getting zapped through the holes in the throttle grip that just happened to be there when i bought the grip.
