Better looking for now is right, this thing plans on sitting around until i stop bleeding green.

You let one honda in and they all start showing up, this one went around the block twice and got parked, its hiding in the shed alone now, cant have any other hondas seeing it and scratching at the door.

The honda phenomenom as i call it doesnt work with kaws though, i have my 550 on the front porch trying to bait a bike i actually want (75-80 900/1000) and them kaws keep hiding from me, crafty creatures

my bikes; 80kz1000(project), 77 gl1000, 74 h2 (project)
Past; 78 kz1000, 83 kz550

I beat a one of those CB900F's in race once with my '74 Z1-900 back in '81. The only reason I beat the guy was because he went into a wheelie. I passed him as he was vertical and as I went into a half a wheelie myself when hitting second . Had to shut down in very short order due to cars waiting at the next light. Happy to do so before he had a chance to catch up, lol. Nice trip to the beach that day. My buddy and I got nailed with tickets on the way back. Was happy to avoid jail that day. So which is supposed to be faster, the CB900F or the Z1-900?

KZJOE900: Nah, the 900s weren't a problem (in general) for a well-tuned Z1 (hope my buddy Blitzkraig doesn't read this! :P ). I beat every one that I ever came across with my Z-1 (geared down a tooth on the front and 29mm smoothbores) and my Z1R (geared down, smoothbores, v-stacks). But then Kraig got a hold of one of the CB900Fs that I used to spank, he put a 1060cc HRC kit in it with gas-ported pistons and a bit of head-work and cams. He knew Trig Wesby in Oklahoma and Trig is a cool guy; Honda went to the V4s and Kraig got some sweet goodies for his CB/Fs. Now THAT freakin' "F" was a ball-hauler when Kraig got done with it! It didn't just blast past me and my Kaws but it handled my buddy's GS1100E that was piped/carbed and dropped. It was cool though; Kraig turned out to be a REALLY cool guy (hey, he's the one that built my CB!!!) and deserving of all the cool HRC stuff.
So - in my experience - a CB900F isn't a match for a Z. Plus, to build them you gotta spend a TON of money; and even then, they come flyin' apart. The (rediculous) cam chain tensioner isn't even available any more; and they ALWAYS get smoked when a motor gives up ... I mean, WTF! Guess that's one way to ensure your new bikes will sell ... whatever.

RSTNICK: Holy crap I guess you have some 1100Fs at your meetings!!! Wow! PMs look good on that red one, don't they?!!! And what is the swingarm on that silver 900 (1100?)??? (I was SOOOO close to going 'silver' on my bike) Trick shocks everywhere ... cool. Nice frame brace on the silver one; and what are the front brakes on the silver 'F'??? What size is his front wheel, and did he do the re-location on his top-shock mount? I wonder where he got his measurements and if he knows of some "voo-doo formula" for that mod? I'd like to know what the wisdom is (where to put the mount) as I have Fox shocks for my bike and that thought is in my head, too. Oh, and some nice rear-sets on there, too. Those boys have some nice rides. Good post!

And "dry clutches" ... DRY CLUTCHES!!! WOW! Those boys have some money!

some basic stock claims for the 900F...the thing was they were new 900's in 80-82 and we had not had a 900 since 77...and many z's were 73,74,75,76....that is a few miles into a fair race against a new bike imo....but given the choice to build one Z's got the market on goodies,or given how many are not still running compared to 35+ beaten z still ticking away.... :)
